Glamping with dogs V1

We love dogs here at TruDomes, and we know there’s nothing better than sharing all our adventures with them – including exploring the great outdoors in style! But when deciding to take your pet on a glamping holiday with you, there are a few things you can do to make your holiday easier and more enjoyable for you both. Read our top tips below…

  1. Travel safe

Getting to your destination is likely to involve a drive, so make sure you know how to keep your dog safe for the journey. The Highway Code states that drivers must suitable restrain animals in the car, which can be done with a seatbelt harness, pet carrier or dog crate. Remember to plan plenty of comfort breaks for your four-legged friend too!

  1. Bring the right accessories

We believe the key to a stress-free trip with your dog lies in the accessories; investing in a good quality lead is essential for long walks in the great outdoors, as are extras such as waterproof coats. It may seem frivolous, but you’ll thank yourself later when the British summertime hits and drying off becomes a hard task – there isn’t anything glamorous about wet dog, after all…

  1. Plan your itinerary

Having a well thought out itinerary will save you plenty of stress while your away and searching for dog-friendly outings. A little research ahead of time may also reveal some hidden gems that will make your trip truly unforgettable.

  1. Don’t forget the vet

Both for your peace of mind and to avoid any unexpected and costly detours, a trip to the vet before you go away to make sure vaccines are up-to-date and your dog is in good health is a great idea. Some campsites will also require you to provide proof that your dog has all their immunisations, especially if you’re planning to go abroad.

  1. Brush up on your commands

Even the best-behaved dog can react unpredictably in new or unfamiliar surroundings, so making time for a few extra training sessions to go over the basics could prove invaluable down the line. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for your dog to show off a bit!
