Northumberland Coast

Northumberland is famous for its rugged landscapes and un-kept countryside. You won’t find posh and polished here, but there is something honest and raw about the dramatic scenery here and you will find much of the same when you head to the coast. Bamburgh is one of the most famous areas of coastline in the area, watched over by the historic Bamburgh Castle, which takes you back in time. On a sunny day, you could mistake its iridescent sandy beaches for somewhere in Spain. You’ll find plenty of pubs, fish and chip shops, and swanky seafood spots for the more highbrow crowd.

During your stay, don’t forget to visit Lindisfarne, Holy Island; a tidal island off the coast that has a fascinating recorded history from the 6th century AD. The island is linked to a mainland by a causeway that is covered by the tide twice a day, so make sure you plan your trip properly and check the tide.

There are over 400 beaches in Cornwall, so don’t worry about running out of seaside spots.

If you’re a bit of a foodie, Cornwall is a must, especially if you love seafood. Cornwall has become recently famed for its fizz, there are many vineyards in Cornwall that are producing their own take on Champagne with great success due to the climate and quality of the soil in this area of the country.
