We’re all feeling a little bit trapped at the moment, so why not take some time to treat yourself to a ‘staycation’? It’s the perfect way to unwind a little and even find some hidden gems within your hometown or discover a new hobby!
To help you get started, here are our top tips on how to have the perfect staycation:
- Plan online
Your first port of call for planning lies online – there’s a wealth of information you can find about your area, which makes it perfect for finding places to visit you may not have noticed before. To make sure you’re still following social distancing guidelines, we recommend that you try to find outdoor places to visit.
- Take a walking tour
You may not be able to visit places, but there’s nothing stopping you from taking a walking tour around your town or city to visit some of its landmarks (make sure you practice safe social distancing) – perhaps set yourself a goal of finding all the statues in the area, or identify all the different types of architecture!
- Make a home cinema
There are more films than ever available to rent or stream, so why not hang some dark curtains, bring all the cushions you have into the living, and pop some popcorn for a movie night in your very own home cinema?
- Try a new restaurant
Part of going away is trying new food, and, with many takeaways still operational, this is still achievable from home – find a restaurant you haven’t tried before, or order something new from your favourite restaurant. You might just find a new favourite dish!
- Learn something new
There are plenty of online classes going on at the moment, and what better way to escape reality for a little while than by trying something new? If you’re dreaming of being abroad, try a new language, or simply learn to cook something from the country you’d like to visit.
